BRSCC AGM REPORT 2014

CATEGORIES:

The BRSCC Annual General Meeting took place on Tuesday 29th April at the Ibis Rugby East Hotel, Crick, Northamptonshire. A transcript of the Chairman’s report follows;

Good evening Ladies and Gentlemen and welcome to our AGM. Thank you for taking the time to attend this evening.

Last year I reported a loss of £20k so I’m very please this time to report a profit of £40k, which shows a swing of some £60k.This increase in profit is important to the Club as it enable us to build-up reserves in the event of a poor year in the future.

I'm firmly of the opinion that this industry is the first to feel the effects when economic conditions decline and again I think that we are also the first to come out of the other end when the economy starts to recover. This is certainly showing in our grids so far this year, which are showing a healthy increase.

So far this year we ran a number of meetings prior to Easter and the like for like grids compare favourably with this time last year.

2013 was again a busy year in terms of our international events which included FIA WEC, ELMS, Superstars, Ferrari Challenge and the International GT Open.I'm please to say we remain the only organising club who are responsible for FIA events in the UK.This shows the regard that we are held in by the promoters and the high standard of our HQ staff, senior officials and marshals. It is comforting to have these people working with me.

Last summer we completed the reorganisation of the HQ staff. After many years of service in the accounts department, Karen Farley left us and I thank her for her many years of service.Following Karen’s departure, we were delighted to welcome Chloe Bambury to the HQ staff. Chloe has been with us since August and I'm pleased to say she is proving to be a valuable member of the Team.

Liz Goodrich is now firmly established in the Competitions Department working alongside Drew Furlong. I have to say it seems as though Liz has been here a lot longer than 18 months!

At the end of last year, we were approached by Lydden Hill via the MSA, to organise the UK round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, which is yet another sign of our reputation as an international organiser. This meeting takes place at the end of May and I hope that we will continue with this event for the foreseeable future.

As I stated earlier, our grids are picking up this season and I look forward to reporting 2014 as a good year in terms of income.

I finish as usual by thanking the HQ staff, the officials and marshals who give their time each weekend, and most of all to you the competitors , our customers, who are the reason for the Club’s existence.

Thank you once again for taking the time to attend.
