CATERHAMS ARE TRAC MON BOUND

The BRSCC North Western Centre Anglesey Race Weekend on the 11/12^th May will be headlined by a very strong line-up of Caterhams, with the iconic marque bring its four premier championships to Trac Mon.

The Caterham Roadsports will be the first race on Saturday afternoon and 2012 Academy champions Alex Gurr (Gp1) and Stephen Nuttall (Gp2) will renew their rivalry. The protagonists took took a win apiece at the Snetterton opener with Pete Fortune hanging onto their coat-tails courtesy of a third and second.

The BookaTrack.com Caterham Superlight Championship is Caterham’s top ranking series and on the early showings, Ollie Taylor is going to take some stopping. The Suffolk driver won rounds 1 & 2, although Terry Langley pressed him all the way.

Mike Hart was another double race winner at Snetterton, the Leicester driver showing a clean pair of heels to his rivals for the Caterham Supersport title. Lee Wiggins was the pre-season favourite so he we will be eager to make up the lost ground.

Exiled Austrian, Michael Gazda, started the Caterham Tracksport season in commanding fashion winning both races. However, the Viennese driver was made to work had for his victories by and Oliver Jarrett and Paul Lewis, who exchanged second and third places. The gap between Gazda and Lewis in the second outing was just .117 seconds!

Drivers will be travelling to Anglesey from right across the UK and even a couple travelling over from Holland and Switzerland. However, for one driver the International circuit is a home from home. Veteran Formula Fordster Juiceie Bruceie hails from Barmouth in Gwynedd and has been campaigning his 1984 Reynard in the Avon Tyres backed Northern Formula Ford Pre 90 Championship for many years. Bruceie will be looking to renew his rivalry with Mario Sarchet. The pair enjoyed two excellent midfield battles in last month’s double-header at Oulton with Sarchet just getting the better of the Barmouth man in each race.

At the forefront of the Pre 90 grid will be Chris Stones and Wayne Poole, both race winners at Oulton, and they will be joined by Dutchman Jaap Blijleven who took two second place finishes at the opener. The newer variants of Formula Fords, in the Post 89 division, will be a battle between David McArthur, James Raven and exiled Californian Austen Kimberly, who were all in close proximity at Oulton.

In the Advantage Motorsport Ford XR Challenge, Market Drayton’s Michael Heath arrives at Anglesey with maximum points from the Oulton Park opener last month. Another native of the Shropshire town, Ralph Fernihough, was second. In the XR3i class Lee Bowron, from Barrow-in-Furness, will be looking to take advantage of the absence of Oulton class wiiner Andrew Lennie.

The BRSCC Mazda MX5 SuperCup will make its third appearance of the season. Wins have been shared between Frodsham’s Matt Davies and Shrewsbury’s Andy Clarkson but these two will have to work very hard to maintain that record as the field includes past winners in Mk3 racing and champions from other series. Paul Sheard is a previous Mk3 champion and Mike Comber won the 750 Motorclub Locost Championship in 2012.
