2012 REGULATIONS

The Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain enters a new era with the introduction of the FIA Safety compliant chassis EcoBoost Formula Ford.  This car, at F3 safety standards, retains the reputation for attracting the bestcareer-minded drivers to launch their motor racing careers.

With strong grids and spectacularly close competition, the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship of Great Britain is anticipating another season of fierce competition. The 2012 Championship is again the sole single-seater support at British Formula 3 Championship UK events. Other highlights will be supporting the prestigious Formula 3 Masters at Zandvoort and the DTM at Brands Hatch.

Meanwhile, the four-meeting EuroCup is aimed at attracting the best young single-seater talent from the British, Benelux and Scandinavian Formula Ford championships, as well as to introduce Formula Ford to other drivers from around Europe.

Each EuroCup event will feature three races, with the series getting underway alongside the British championship on the Brands Hatch Grand Prix circuit in mid-June.  This will be followed by EuroCup events in July at Spa, Zandvoort F3 Masters and Nurburgring in Germany (also a Championship event).

In line with the Championship’s aim of giving drivers maximum possible seat time, the 2012 Championship will be contested over eight ‘triple-header’ meetings. A comprehensive TV schedule including Channel 4 coverage, as well as Motors TV, is part of the package and testing remains unlimited, to suit each driver’s time and budget options.

With a variety of chassis manufacturers already involved, new teams joining the Championship, and drivers already signing up, 2012 starts a new generation.

As Motorsport News asked, ‘Can you really afford to skip Formula Ford?’
