DAVE WILKINS 1949 – 2013
We are sad to report that Dave Wilkins finally succumbed to his long battle with cancer on Saturday 3rdAugust, aged 64. Dave had been the Club’s supplier of trophies, having taken over the reins of PMJ Engraving from Doug Jennings, when the latter retired in 2008.
However, Dave’s involvement in motorsport went much further back. He started rallying with the Bexley Light Car Club in the early 70's and subsequently became an MSA steward. In recent years, when visiting Brands Hatch to deliver trophies, Dave always took time to drop in on the MSA Stewards on duty and developed a good relationship with them.
In his professional career away from motorsport, Dave was a metallurgist, largely with the Ministry of Defence at Woolwich and more recently, until his retirement, at Fort Halstead.
Dave was a popular figure with the HQ staff and was always happy to help with late requests for an extra trophy or some last minute engraving. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
