FARRELL v HANNAM FOR PRE 90 TITLE

The destination of the Avon Tyres Formula Ford Northern Pre 90 Championship will be decided in a double-header shoot-out between John Farrell and Lee Hannam at Anglesey this weekend in an 18 race meeting run by the BRSCC North Western Centre.

Warrington’s Farrell leads Northwich’s Hannam by just 13 points and with 48 available from the two races their season long battle looks like it will go down to the very last corner. In the Post 89 class of the REIS backed championship, Australian teenager looks set to add the title to his growing list of achievements in what has been a very impressive debut season in the UK.

Twenty nine Ford Fiestas will line up across the three classes of the Competition Car Insurance/Dunlop supported championship. In the ST class Jeremy Gumbley leads the way from David Grady & Mark Tilbury. The Si & Zetec classes, which run together, are dominanted by the Cockill brothers; Ed in the former and Harry in the latter. In another family affair, father and son duo Brian and Ben Roper will do battle in the ST class. Indeed, it will be a very busy weekend for Brian as he is also campaining an Si so he has 4 races to contend with!

The title battle is still to be decided in the Arrowpak Euro Saloons where James May’s Seat Leon Cupra heads Nick Hayes by just four points. Every point is therefore vital this weekend but it may not be decisive as there is one round still on the schedule at Snetterton next month.

Plymouth’s Louise Inch arrives at Anglesey nursing a 1 point advantage over Matt Pinny in the Mighty Minis. Louise is on a mission to be the first lady to win the coveted title and will be out to take a bigger lead into the final two races at Snetterton in October.

In the Super Mighty Minis, Fareham’s Scott Kendall makes the long trip north hopeful of fending off the strong challenge of Chris Morgan, who is still very much in the running to add the Super title to the Mighty Mini title he won last year. The Supers grid my not be high on quantity but it packs a lot of quality with almost all the drivers having won a race, if not a championship in their careers.

Races 11 and 12 of the BRSCC F3 Series will take place at Anglesey this weekend with 2009 Champion Chris Needham in his DST Group Ltd Dallara F302 looking to see off Alex Craven, who has been hounding him all season in his Lanan Racing Dallara F304. These two have had comings together in the recent past, handing debut wins to Kent driver Mark Terry's Vent Master Service Limited Dallara F302 and Mark Harrison in his Fox Access/Magic Motorsport Dallara F301.

Returning to Anglesey for the second time this season are the assorted sportscars of the Itchy Feet BRSCC OSS Championship. Although there will be a further double header next month, drivers have to drop two of their fourteen scores so Class Champions could be confirmed this weekend. Tony Sinclair’s Jade 3 is the car all the others are chasing.
