Scottish Porsche star Glynn Geddie, who made an exciting debut in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Knockhill in May, is to partner series frontrunner David Ashburn at the wheel of the Trackspeed team’s Porsche GT3R for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old from Aberdeen will be 100 per cent behind Ashburn’s bid to wrest the championship lead from MTECH Ferrari drivers Duncan Cameron and Matt Griffin at the 18th July Rockingham meeting and ensuing rounds. Glynn is fired up to do well: “I really enjoyed working with the team at Knockhill and I feel we should have a good chance in the remaining races.”

The Geddie/Ashburn partnership netted a third-place finish in round three at Knockhill. Adds Geddie: “We should really have won both races in Scotland because we had the pace to do so.”

London-based Ashburn has also shared his Porsche with young Spaniard Siso Cunill and, most recently, at Spa, with rapid Richard Westbrook, an outing which netted second place and which promoted Ashburn to second in the standings just two points behind Cameron and Griffin.

“Glynn is staying in the car now for the rest of the year,” says Trackspeed team manager Ricki Martino, “and will finish off the season with David, who is looking pretty good in the championship. The idea is for Glynn to help him to keep the pressure on the quick guys and to keep pushing for the points.

“Rockingham ought to suit the Porsche but the low grip of the track surface may give us a problem or two. We found it hard to get a set-up there in 2008, but we have moved on since Spa and have found a good set-up so we are happy enough.

“We are also hopeful of putting another GT3 Porsche out at Snetterton in August, and we are also talking to a customer about potentially rejoining the Cup class with a Porsche.”

Geddie also turned out for the Kempster Ford team at the BRSCC Silverstone meeting at the end of June for a one-off appearance in the Competition Car Insurance/Dunlop Fiesta Championship scoring impressive 4th and 2nd place finishes in the double header.
