Celebrity TV baker Paul Hollywood is set make an appearance behind the wheel of a racing car once again this season – although it’s set to happen sooner than you might think.

Hollywood, of The Great British Bake Off fame, has already outlined his plans to compete in the second half of this year’s British GT Championship where he’ll pilot an Aston Martin V8 Vantage with Beechdean AMR in the GT4 class alongside reigning class champion Jamie Chadwick. Paul isn’t able to compete in the first half of the season due to other commitments and also because he doesn’t currently possess the correct number of signatures on his racing licence to do so.

However, Paul will be taking one step closer to his goal when he hits the track in a couple of weeks time – and it’s with us! Hollywood is set to compete in the opening round of this season’s Alfa Romeo Championship in an Alfa 156 2.0 TS, prepared by regular Championship campaigners Bianco in the Twin Spark Cup class. This will be part of the season-opening race weekend for the Club at Snetterton on April 2/3.

Fellow Alfa driver Andy Hancock’s insurance company Grove & Dean already insure Paul and have done for his previous racing activities. It’s said that Andy made the suggestion of running in the Alfas in order to gain two valuable signatures into order to upgrade his licence quicker. Nonetheless, it’s always brilliant when an unexpected celebrity driver turns up to compete and this is no exception.

So, if you wanted any more incentive to head to Snetterton for the opening weekend of our season, we’ve got it right here for you. Along with Paul’s Alfa outing, the programme is also filled by the Mazda MX-5 Championship, Mazda MX-5 SuperCup and Toyo Tires Porsche Championship on the sports car front, the senior Fiesta Championship and Fiesta Junior Championship for tin-tops and even Formula Jedi for those who enjoy their single seaters.

Tickets can be found at http://www.snetterton.co.uk/calendar/2016/april/sn-brscc.aspx, so get yours now if you want to see one of the nation’s favourite food personalities hit the track before he does so in British GT!
