BRSCC South Eastern Centre marshal John Blake was chosen the recipient of the coveted GPDA Montry Terrell Trophy, an award presented to a nominated flag marshal by their Centre for outstanding work throughout 2015.

Speaking of the achievement, BRSCC Chairman Bernard Cottrell had this to say on the night:

"John has been a marshal for many years and in that time, he has proved very competent with a professional pride in his work. He encourages others to adopt the same high standards too and communicates this well in his training of others. A good team player and stalwart BRSCC club member, John has flagged at many of the Club’s events at Brands Hatch and other circuits over the years.

He is a keen motorsport volunteer and participates in club and other varied motorsport activities, such as marshalling at the Chelsea Auto Legends event and at the BRSCC Racing Car Show and subsequent Autosport International shows. He has many motorsport friends in Britain and internationally, as he has marshalled at many international events abroad, including the Australian Grand Prix, Le Mans and numerous other events, as well as the BRSCC’s Croix-En-Ternois race meetings.

In addition, he has strong opinions on some aspects of motorsport and is very knowledgeable, ensuring he contributes much of his knowledge at appropriate motorsport events."

Cottrell also made sure to praise our marshals on the night as a whole for their continuous hard work and effort, stating: "We say it every year but they really are the very life-blood of motorsport. Plus, I’m sure you will agree that there is no denying that British marshals are seen by many as some of the best in world motorsport."

John was unable to attend and receive the Trophy on the night, so fellow SE Centre marshal and colleague Anne Rothberg collected it on his behalf.
