More than one hundred Mazdas will be in action at Brands Hatch on Saturday as the BRSCC South Eastern Centre puts on a one-day meeting, exclusively for Ma5da Racing.

The meeting features ten races, including six for the MX5 Mk1 Championship, three for the MX5 Mk3 Cup (who will share the grid with the MX150-Rs), and finally a forty-five minute ‘Enduro’ race, which is open to all three marques.

Welshman Tom Roche leads a very tight pack of contenders in the Mk1 Championship. He nurses a very slender lead of just seven points from long-term rival Adam Gore, with James Blake-Baldwin just a further point behind. Ben Short, Rhys Jenkins and Alex Preston are also very much in contention.

The battle for honours in the Mk3 Cup is even closer. Chrissy Palmer arrives at his home circuit just six points ahead of fellow West Sussex resident Luke Herbert. Chrissy of course has very fond memories of Brands Hatch having won the 2009 Formula Ford Festival on the Indy circuit. Saturday’s weather conditions look like being what you would expect for the October Festival, so that could play into Chrissy’s hands! Other contenders include Jordan Stilp and veteran Paul Sheard. Stilp will be in very confident mood having been the main points beneficiary of the Castle Combe meeting in the middle of June.

Kevin Dengate is the leader of the fledgling MX150-R championship, with Ma5da Racing boss, Jonathan Blake in second.
