NOWHERE BETTER THAN ANGLESEY!

When the weather is warm and the sun is shining there is not a better circuit in the UK than Anglesey so the officials and marshals from the BRSCC North Western Centre will certainly be looking forward to the first of four visits to the island circuit this season.

The two day meeting will feature 19 races in total and will have something of a ‘Celtic’ feel with visitors from both Scotland and Ireland mixing it with the locals not to mention the English invaders!

Representing Scotland is the Scottish Legends who will enjoy two short sharp heats and an eight lap final on each day. Brothers Ben and Eliot Mason, who are sharing one of the pocket rockets, lead the points table with Craig Mitchell the top rookie to date.

Adding to the ‘craic’ in the paddock will be the small in number but high spirited boys from the Sophos Irish Global GT Lights who are on another round of their annual UK tour. Champion ‘Mad Max’ Peter Drennan is the driver to watch but will be closely challenged by Bernie Braden, Keith Dawson and Alan Bryne.

The MGCC Cockshoot Cup competitors are at Anglesey just on Saturday for a twenty minute race, the third of seven in the season. Peter Bramble and David Coulthard are currently tied in the race for the solid silver trophy that dates back to the 30’s,

BRSCC championships are headed by the Avon Tyres Formula Ford 1600 Northern Championship who will have twenty two cars lining up across both the Post 89 and Pre 90 classes. Warrington’s John Farrell tops the latter class in a UCLAN Team prepared Reynard FF89. In Post 89 young Australian Justin Skinner has impressed everyone having won three of the four races so far.

Another BRSCC North West based championship is the BRS Recovery Ford XR Challenge. Although Simon Robinson leads the XR2 class, all eyes will be on the XR3i leader, local hero John-Ifan Jones. John-Ifan hails from Caernarfon and has great experience of his home track.

Following Cadwell Park three weeks ago, the BRSCC Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship is still led by the Healey family, father Chris running a 3 litre GTV in Class C and daughter Mel with her Class E 156. Chris leads by two points but the Healeys will be keeping a close eye on Andy Inman’s 156 as the Geordie is now just three points behind Mel.

The revised BRSCC Porsche Championship has enjoyed a very encouraging start and this will continue at Anglesey with a record seven Boxsters joining the eleven entered 924’s. Alistair Kirkham from Manchester heads the 924 pack while the man setting the Class B pace is Southampton’s David Clark in his Brookspeed prepared Boxster.
