The BRSCC North Western Centre runs their eleventh and last meeting of the 2009 season at Oulton Park tomorrow. The meeting is dominated by a four hour Funcup race in the afternoon but there are also double headers for the BRS Recovery Ford XR Challenge and the Dunlop TVR Challenge.

25 year old Paul Plant was confirmed as the youngest ever winner of the BRSCC Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship at Silverstone (GP circuit) last Sunday. He also became the first champion not to win a class, having switched from Class D 33 to Class E 156 mid season before finally having a run in a Class B 156. However, he had totted up enough points to make his position unassailable by runner up Tim Lewis and third placed Mel Healey.

MIDLANDS CENTRE WELCOMES BRITCAR 500
Work has already begun for the BRSCC Midland Centre at Silverstone this weekend. Indeed it started this morning when they started signing-on drivers at 7.15am. It was the beginning of what will be a very busy three days for the Centre as the meeting features over 450 competitors, 13 championships/series and 20 races, including of course the star of the show, the Britcar 500 six hour endurance race.

The BRSCC South Eastern Centre made its second visit of the season to Brands Hatch on the 15th/16th of August for a 21-race programme, sponsored by Grand Prix Racewear. The Race TV crew were in attendance on the Sunday filming for a series of ‘BRSCC Racing’ programmes to be broadcast on Motors TV shortly. Grey early-morning skies soon gave way on both days to bathe the Indy Circuit in glorious sunshine and there was plenty of close racing for the TV cameras to capture.

Daniel Ricciardo edged ever closer to the 2009 Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series championship title on Sunday at Silverstone at the BRSCC Midland Centre run meeting. The Carlin Motorsport driver netting one race win and a third-place finish, ahead of his chief title rival Walter Grubmuller, to increase his points advantage to 45 with only four races remaining. Grubmüller's Hitech team-mate Renger van der Zande was the second-race victor at Silverstone.

CLUB FF NW : 4 RACES, 4 DIFFERENT WINNERS
Rounds 7 and 8 of the Creative LED Solutions Club Formula Ford North West Championship took place at the Anglesey last weekend. While the grid sizes weren’t the strongest the championship has seen during 2009, those who didn’t enter certainly missed out on an excellent weekend’s racing. The four races provided four different winners, with entertainment throughout for the drivers, marshals and spectators alike. Apart from a brief shower during Sunday morning’s free practice, dry and warm weather was very much the order of the meeting.

Saturday 27th June saw Silverstone stage round 5 of the Creative LED Solutions Club Formula Ford North West Championship, the event also counting as a round of the Webcon UK National Club Formula Ford championship.

The Caterham Race Weekend at Anglesey was fortunate to avoid any of the heavy downpours that affected the rest of the country and the fine weather contributed to some excellent racing which saw an incredible four drivers score a brace of wins in their respective Caterham championships.

After two events run with other clubs, the BRSCC South Eastern Centre ran its first meeting of 2009 in its own right, with a two-day event on the Kent venue’s 1.199 mile Indy Circuit. As befits mid-June, the weekend stayed warm and dry.

The BRSCC Northern Centre runs their second meeting of the season at Cadwell Park tomorrow with an eight race schedule featuring double headers for the Formula Jedi Championship, the Porsche 924 Championship, the Scottish Mini Cooper Cup and BESCR sponsored by Acumen Solutions Ltd.

Veteran Ford Fiesta campaigner Keith Chapman will reach a notable personal milestone when he lines up on the grid for the first Fiesta race this Saturday. For it will be the 100th race in the Competition Car Insurance backed championship that the Essex racer has entered in his ultra reliable Fiesta Zetec 1400cc.

A full day of action on Saturday at Donington Park, involving some of the best club motorsport, was sadly abandoned on the Sunday for reasons outside of the BRSCC’s control, after only a couple of the scheduled races had been completed.

This weekend’s BRSCC Midlands Centre meeting at Donington Park is one of the busiest the BRSCC has run for many years with over 400 drivers racing at the meeting.

Following our joint sortie with the CSCC last month, the next outing for the BRSCC South Eastern Centre saw us co-operate with two other local clubs, BARC SE and Borough 19 for a rarity among the BRSCC’s events portfolio – a sprint, and at the one mile circuit at Lydden Hill to boot. Glorious weather blessed the event on Saturday 30th May.

Nick Tandy scored an emotional victory yesterday at Rockingham in the first of two races in the Cooper Tires British Formula 3 International Series. Nick Tandy's win, coming just a day before the funeral of his elder brother and JTR team chief Joe, left barely a dry eye in the house. Mygale pilot Tandy, the first British winner in the championship so far this season, also brought to an end a 16-race victory streak for the Dallara chassis.

BRSCC RACE WEEKEND - PEMBREY 16th & 17th MAY 2009
The BRSCC South Western Centre ran their first (and only) race meeting of the year at Pembrey over the weekend in very changeable weather conditions. The format was a first for our Centre, whereby the programme was made up of a sprint and then racing.

The BRSCC South Western Centre will achieve a first this weekend when they run their annual meeting at the Carmarthenshire circuit. It will be the first time the Centre has run both circuit racing and a Sprint at the same meeting.

It was with great sadness that the BRSCC learnt today of the tragic death of Joe Tandy in a road accident near his Bedfordshire home yesterday afternoon. Although just 26 years old, Joe had vast experience both as a driver & team owner. His racing career took in many different championships including the BRSCC TVR Tuscan Challenge.

DONINGTON MEETING GETS THE GREEN LIGHT!
Officials at Donington Park have confirmed to the BRSCC that our planned race meeting at the circuit on the 6/7th June will go ahead. Following the well documented on-going re-development work the circuit had a track inspection last week and an MSA Track Licence was duly issued on Friday.

The BRSCC South Eastern Centre made its seasonal debut at Brands Hatch on 9th 10th May in tandem with the Classic Sports Car Club (CSCC), for a 16-race programme held over the 1.119 mile Indy Circuit. The weather gods smiled on the Kent venue, the weekend keeping rain-free.

BRSCC RACE WEEKEND - SNETTERTON 2nd & 3rd MAY 2009
Saturday’s 5 hour Fun Cup marathon was won by the Team Honeywell VW of Neil Plimmer and Geoff Fawcett who crossed the line 1 minute and 24 seconds ahead of the JPR/Team Norsound car driven by dan Jones, Steve Johansen and mark Hope.

The Don Truman Trophy Race Day took place on a dry, sunny Sunday at Mallory Park on the 26th April, with practice commencing at 9.30am. This was the third occasion this event has taken place and many of you will remember the first event in 2006, which was organised to coincide with both a significant birthday for Don and the 60th anniversary of the Club.

BRSCC MARSHAL WINS DAVID LESLIE TROPHY
Louth college student and Cadwell Park regular, Stephanie Watson (aged 16) was the first person to receive the new prestigious David Leslie Trophy at the circuit during the BRSCC meeting on Saturday 18th April.
