Our North Western Centre is back at Oulton Park tomorrow for their second visit of the season, but this time on the International Circuit. Ten races are on the agenda, the first of which is due to go off at 12.05pm.

The opening race is for the Post 89 Formula Fords, and the twenty-three cars entered will be battling for points in three different championships; National, Northern and Champion of Oulton. Ulsterman Jonny McMullan is top of the National standings with Canadian Patrick Dussault and Chippenham’s Luke Cooper in hot pursuit. With Oulton being a double-header for the National championship there are a lot of points at stake and the chasing pack can’t afford to let McMullan get too far ahead. Oulton regular Tom McArthur leads the way in the Northern category for which there is just one round tomorrow.

With the Scottish Fiesta Championship travelling down to join our XR Challenge we have an almost full grid for the double-header. For the XRs it is only the second outing of the season after the Anglesey round was aborted. Ralph Fernihough was second in both races on the Fosters circuit last month and he will be looking to take advantage of the absence of double race winner Mark Robinson. Thirteen Scottish Fiestas are making the trip south including Wayne MacAuley who leads the ST class and Jim Deans, the XR2 leader.

As with the Post 89 Formula Ford, the Pre 90s are also contesting three championships in one twenty minute race. Serial winner Jamie Jardine is top of the National table, while Stalybridge’s Matthew Cowley has that honour in the Northern standings. Both drivers are campaigning Reynards, Jardine in an 84 model and Cowley in an 88.

In contrast to the XR Challenge, the Alfashop Alfa Romeo Championship will be having their fifth race of the season. Their last outing was as a guest championship at the prestigious Avon Tyres British GT Championship at Rockingham at the beginning of the month. Former champion Roger Evans won both races at the Corby Motor Speedway and he will be confident of backing that up with another win tomorrow. He can however expect stiff competition from the other Modified class contenders including Graham Seager, Bryan Shrubb and Andy Robinson who have all visited the podium this season.

Oulton Park will host rounds three and four of the 2015 Pirelli Ferrari formula classic series. This race series, the only one of its type in the world, is designed for Ferrari road cars built prior to 1990 but excluding turbo-charged cars. Last year’s regular winner Gary Culver in his Group 4 328 will surely be in contention for the top of the podium but look to class 3 where you can expect to see some very close racing.

The Caterham Open Series makes its debut at Oulton Park tomorrow – the first of five individual events for the 1.6 Ford Sigma engined cars of 2011 Academy vintage or older. The series is aimed at drivers who haven’t the time to commit to the current Caterham championships and is intended to provide a home for older Caterhams that are no longer eligible for their official championships.

It looks like the weather shouldn’t cause any problems tomorrow as it is forecast to be dry and bright all day. You can see the full forecast at OULTON WEATHER
