The BRSCC East Anglian Centre returns for their second meeting of the season at the Norfolk track with the unusual mixture of both sprint and race events on the two day schedule.

In additional to the 16 regular races there will also be a timed one hour and thirty five minute sprint event on Saturday afternoon. Although open to all-comers, the vast majority of the 54 cars have come from the PistonHeads Caterham Academy, which is a unique series exclusively for novice drivers. Snetterton sees the third and final sprint round for the two Academy groups before they step up to racing at Rockingham in July. It’s also the third progression in the discipline that started on the simple three corner Aintree course in April, then moved to the dedicated technical course of Curborough before finally heading to Snetterton – a full racing circuit and a significant challenge!

This weekend sees the first of two visits by the Itchy Feet OSS Championship to Snetterton and the star attraction will be the fabulous ex Dyson MG-Lola EX257 now in the caring hands of Summertree Racing and driven my Mike Roberts.

Great progress is being made in the BRSCC Porsche Championship where 6 Boxsters will form part of the 20 car grid with the balance made up of 924’s – the original bedrock championship. Dave Clark (Boxsters) and Alastair Kirkham (924) will be looking to repeat their success at Oulton earlier in the month where they both won double headers.

The BRSCC F3 Series also makes the first of two visits to Snetterton during the 2010 season this weekend. In Class A, Chris Needham will be looking to add to last seasons championship victory and a double at Silverstone in April with his DST Group Ltd Dallara F302. In Class B, the omnipresent Dave Karaskas (Dallara F393) and Chris Willie (DACS Grays Motorsport Dallara F396) are joined by a new boy in the shape of James Ledamun with a Toms D36F.

The Motor Lawyers Fiat Racing Challenge makes a welcome return with two races. Now in their 19th year of competition, the Italian hot hatches have continued to get faster, thanks to the introduction of Silverstone slick tyres and the presence of the 1.7 litre Punto HGT. Although it seemed that the domination of the series by the ever dependable Uno was well and truly over, Mark Snelling has put that model back in contention by winning the first 2 races of the year. However, he may find the competition at bit tougher this weekend, especially if former Champion Jason Greatrex makes his threatened comeback following his brief secondment to the Abarth 500 trofeo series.

Joining the Dunlop TVR Challenge on the grid is the BARC South Eastern Centre’s Quaife Intermarque League. Another guest championship from BARC SE is the Cannons Motor Spares Tin Tops who will be bolstered by cars from the Tiger racing Series in both Saturday races.

Adding a Far Eastern theme to Sunday’s activities are the MR2 Challenge and the Nippon Challenge both of which join us for the day from the Red Dragon Race & Track Club. The latter features the new Subaru Cup.
