The latest edition to the BRSCC portfolio, the Trofeo Abarth 500 GB Championship, held an impressive media day at Silverstone at the end of last week, where six of the new race cars were put through their paces.
The new one make series attracted a good turn-out of motorsport journalists and potential new teams and drivers. With backing from Abarth UK, including dealers entering their own cars, the championship looks set for an exciting debut season in 2010. Championship manager, Paolo Callea, who chose the BRSCC as the organizing club, announced the Trofeo platform to a captive audience. Paolo’s informative introduction covered several points about the championship including strict scrutineering and policing of driving standards. Callea also emphasised the importance of delivering value for all the championship stakeholders while also stressing that the Trofeo GB is a platform with a fresh approach to motorsport. “While capturing the essence of the Abarth brand the Trofeo GB must be enjoyable and competitive with an event format and prize structure that brings value and entertainment for all involved” he added.
