The BRSCC Northern Centre is running their main meeting of the season this weekend featuring seventeen races over Saturday & Sunday. The roster of championships racing at Lincolnshire’s very own ‘mini-Nurburgring’ is a mixture of the Club’s own series and guests from the Scottish Motor Racing Club and the MGCC.

Getting proceedings under way will be the Scottish Legends Championship with the first of six quick-fire races for the popular series. The first two races are heats before the Final concludes Saturday’s schedule. The same format is then repeated on Sunday. Former champion Carole Brown has returned to the Legends this season and currently heads the points table after three rounds.

Although a BRSCC championship, the S&G Response Ford XR Challenge will also enjoy something of an ‘away day’ as the majority of their races are at Oulton Park or Anglesey, as it is a predominantly North Western series. Simon Sheridan leads the Fiesta class and John-Ifan Jones is the man they are tring to catch in the Escort category.

The Design911.com Championship will also enjoy a double header at Cadwell. Dave Clark’s Boxster has made a clean sweep of the four races to date but the experienced Gerry Taylor is closing the gap so he will be hoping to edge out the 2010 champion this weekend. In the 924 class matters are far less clear-cut with Jayson Flegg, Andrew Hannington and Alfred Piesinger all having taken the chequered flag in previous rounds.

Another championship making the trip from across the border is the Celtic Speed Scottish Mini Cooper Cup. This weekend is one of two ‘away days’ from their Knockhill home, with a Donington date in July in the offing. The Cup is shaping up into a three way fight between leader Vic Covey Jnr and brothers David & Tim Sleigh.

The BRSCC Formula Jedi Championship always puts on a good show at Cadwell and championship leader Richard Mitcham currently holds the outright lap record for the circuit. Richard has a busy weekend ahead of him – he is doing some University exams on Saturday morning before dashing to the circuit for the afternoon race!

Completing the trio of tartan raiders is the Scottish Classic Sports & Saloon Championship who will field an eclectic grid of Austin Healey Sprites, Ford Capris, Triumphs and Porsche 911’s, amongst others. 2010 champion John Marshall is currently tied for the lead with arch rival Stan Bernard. Marshall is in a Ford Escort RS and Bernard in a 911.

Finally, the BRSCC Northern Centre welcomes to Cadwell Park the MG Car Club’s Drayton Manor Park MG Metro Cup, which is their biggest championship. Justin Marsden, Iain Patterson and Mike Williams are the respective leaders in Classes A, B & C.
