The British GT Championship showcases the most prestigious and stylish sportscar grid of any national motorsport championship in the world. The 2018 season – British GT’s 26th – comprises six events around the UK as well as one international round held at the legendary Belgian circuit, Spa-Francorchamps. Each race lasts between one, two and three hours, while two drivers typically share each car.

For the fans, British GT offers a spectacular motorsport experience. With glamorous supercars racing bumper-to-bumper, ground-shaking noise, breath-taking speeds and all the drama of pitstops and driver changes, the race experience is one not to be missed.

The championship’s premier category is reserved for GT3 specification cars, which are loosely based on their road-going counterparts. GT3 has become the de facto class for customer GT racing since its emergence a little over 10 years ago, with the likes of Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and Bentley just some of more than 15 manufacturers now competing worldwide. SRO’s renowned Balance of Performance regulations ensure each model remains competitive, regardless of the original production version’s inherent strengths and weaknesses.

Although slower than their senior class counterparts, GT4 cars still pack a real punch in terms of both performance and numbers. Two thirds of British GT’s multi-class grid is now made up of GT4s, many of which are built by the same array of manufacturers contesting GT3. While once the preserve of Ginetta and Aston Martin, GT4’s recent boom has seen the likes of Porsche, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-AMG join a rapidly expanding list of homologated marques which also include McLaren, Nissan, Lotus, KTM and Toyota.

Occasionally a car without either GT3 or GT4 homologation is entered into British GT. In this instance it competes as an Invitation entry running outside of the general classicisation.
