* GALLAGHER OR FURLONG?
Readers of Motorsport News may have noticed several quotes in recent issues attributed to our new Competitions Director, Drew Gallagher. Rest assured this is of course Drew Furlong, who has taken on the competitions role having been the Club’s Financial Director for many years. Drew will be outlining his views on this new challenge in the January edition of BRSCC Racing News. As for Motorsport News, we have accepted their profuse apology but it just goes to show you shouldn’t believe everything you read in the press!
* LMA CHAMPIONSHIP RACKS UP THE NUMBERS
The LMA backed Euro Saloon & Sports Car Championship enjoyed a very successful season with record numbers turning out to contest the well established ‘catch-all’ series. 70 different drivers entered 13 races, 7 of which were televised, spread over 9 meetings in 24 different marques. 7 drivers recorded overall race wins and 26 recorded class wins over the 5 classes. The numbers are impressive and owe much to the hard work of championship co-ordinator Sara Pryce. LMA Managing Director Stuart Cumming is keen to thank all those who have contributed to the booming championship, “Sara and the staff at LMA have worked hard to make a success of this year's championship. I'd like to thank everyone who has come out to race & supported us. We’ve set our standards high and we aim to go even higher in 2008”. For more information about the championship visit www.LMAeurosaloons.co.uk
* CHAMPIONSHIP DATES FOR 2008
The calendars for all BRSCC championships and race meetings are currently being drawn up and will be issued to championship co-ordinators for distribution to registered competitors as soon as they are available.

Tickets are also available for the Motorsport Safety Fund "Watkins Lecture" on Friday 11 January at the Autosport Show.
This popular annual event is named after Professor Sid Watkins - F1's safety pioneer - who made the very first presentation. The 2008 Lecture will be delivered by Malcolm Wilson, founder of M-Sport and therefore the architect of BP-Ford's victory in last year's FIA World Rally Championship. A growing highlight of the Autosport International Show, the lecture is these days attended by some 500 delegates. The previous presenters have been: Professor Sid Watkins (twice), Sir Jackie Stewart, Max Mosley, Niki Lauda, David Richards, Dr Terry Trammell, Martin Brundle, Ross Brawn and Bernie Ecclestone - a veritable who's who of motorsport. * HOWARD FISHER RIP
It is with great sadness that we have to report the death of Howard Fisher, the original eligibility scrutineer for the Ford Saloon Car Championship. Howard’s interest in Fords in motorsport echoed his work for a Ford Main Dealer in North London and this lead him to a lengthy spell on the committee of the Ford RS Owners' Club where his role of Technical Officer was of immense help to those who consulted him.
His encyclopaedic knowledge about Ford cars and parts stood him in good stead, when, in 1990 he was tasked with producing the initial Ford saloon championship regulations. He remained with the championship for many happy years and with his wife Sue, was a regular and welcome friendly face in the paddock. Howard Fisher will be missed by all who knew him.
