BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship

The BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship really is the affordable way to go motor racing and is the perfect starting point for those coming into the sport for the first time. There is a plentiful supply of Mk1s ready to race but even if you want to build your own car, donor cars are readily available and cheap to buy and convert. It really is the best way to go racing in one of the world’s greatest small sportscars.

The 2017 season was another successful year with just over 100 drivers registered for the Championship, with 70 cars alone turning out for the season finale at Donington in October. For 2018, we are expecting even further growth and a great calendar of eight meetings, featuring twenty four races is in place, meaning all meetings next season will be triple-headers (3 races per weekend). The season starts on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in March, whilst other popular circuits such as Silverstone, Cadwell Park & Oulton Park are also on the calendar before the season reaches a dramatic conclusion with the finale at the Donington Park National circuit in October.

All of the events will feature 20-minute qualifying sessions and three 20-minute races and will be broadcast on Motors TV throughout the season. The BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship will also feature a dedicated Race Centre at all championship rounds. This will be the focal point of the championship in the paddock and will enable all competitors and team owners a meeting point to socialise.

With tightly controlled regulations and few modifications allowed, the Mazda MX-5 Mk1 is a great entry route into club motorsport. The Mazda MX-5 has proved to be a very popular choice with competitors looking for affordable and competitive racing.

You can follow the season as it unfolds via the Championship’s website (, Facebook (, Twitter (@BRSCCMazda) and Instagram (@brsccmazda).

*NEW FOR 2018* - The BRSCC Mazda MX-5 Championship will be joined at their meetings by the new Mazda MX-5 Super Series, an additional contest for Mk3 generation MX-5s that are also eligible for and built to compete in the Mazda MX-5 SuperCup. With the SuperCup joining the TCR UK Championship support package for 2018, the Super Series was created to allow complete novices or those who wish to move from a Mk1 to a Mk3 a place to race without the weight of expectation racing in front the TCR UK spectators would bring, whilst also remaining with the same teams they may have raced with in the Mk1 Championship and still compete on the same weekends at the same circuits throughout the year. To find out more about competing in the Super Series, make sure you contact Mandy Andrew on 07973 665176 or
