BRSCC Mazda MX-5 SuperCup

The MX-5 SuperCup takes this popular, fast and reliable sports car and with sensible performance modifications, creates a superb platform for competitive racing that is suitable for both experienced and novice drivers. These Mk3 cars, although modern, are not complicated and can be run from home (as many of our drivers do), or there are several specialist race preparers who offer race support as well as 'Arrive and Drive' packages.

The MX-5 SuperCup season is contested over 8 different meetings at the UKs top circuits, including world famous venues such as Silverstone, Brands Hatch and Oulton Park, with the final rounds set to be held on the Donington Park National circuit in October. Race weekends are all triple header meetings, with a 20 minute qualifying session and three 20 minute races at all events, giving drivers a lot of competitive track time.

There are always battles throughout the field meaning that the winner is rarely decided before the final lap and the winning margin is often only tenths of a second! Multiple race winners throughout the season is the norm and in the last 4 seasons, the championship remained undecided until the final racing meeting, two of which going down to the final race of the season! While certainly competitive on track, the SuperCup prides itself on having drivers and teams who are always willing to lend a helping hand to their fellow competitors and who enjoy the atmosphere back in the paddock as much as the on track action.

No other UK championship offers such close and competitive racing between identical modern production sports cars, this cost effectively! Former champions and race winners in the MX-5 Mk3 championship have gone on to successfully compete in series such as the British GT Championship, Ginetta GT4 Supercup and the Renault UK Clio Cup, showing that the MX-5 SuperCup attracts and creates some of Britain's best driving talent, including the likes of former BTCC race winner Paul O’Neill.

2017 saw the biggest and best year yet for the championship and it’s only set to continue growing thanks to its new found status on the support package for the first TCR UK Championship seasn on 2018. It continues to be of the most exciting and well supported race series in the country of recent seasons. It does well to attract many new fans and drivers along the way, so there really is no better time to join the BRSCC Mazda MX-5 SuperCup!

*NEW FOR 2018* - As well as the MX-5 SuperCup there will also be a new Mazda MX-5 Super Series, an additional contest for Mk3 generation MX-5s that are also eligible for and built to compete in the SuperCup. With the SuperCup joining the TCR UK Championship support package for 2018, the Super Series was created to allow complete novices or those who wish to move from a Mk1 to a Mk3 a place to race without the weight of expectation racing in front the TCR UK spectators would bring, whilst also remaining with the same teams they may have raced with in the Mk1 Championship and still compete on the same weekends at the same circuits throughout the year as the Mk1s. To find out more about competing in the Super Series, make sure you contact Mandy Andrew on 07973 665176 or mandy@brscc.co.uk.
