Healthy grids and fantastically close racing typify the Roadsport Challenge, Caterham's championship for intermediate drivers. The cars are all powered by 1.6-litre Ford Sigma units and have an impressive power to weight ratio and phenomenal handling thanks to their Avon CR500 treaded race rubber.

There are three classes for Roadsports, each with their own grid. Roadsport B is primarily for drivers fresh from the Caterham Academy motorsport starter series, along with other relatively inexperienced or new competitors. Roadsport B cars run in road legal trim, and competitors can, and often do, drive them home from the circuit. Supersport cars gain a few performance-enhancing modifications and the cars are stripped of the necessities for road use, such as the screen and lights leaving them in full race-car style trim for their 30 minute races. However, even these can be converted back to road-legal in a matter of minutes! Finally Roadsport A caters for the older k-series cars that have remained hugely popular, running in an identical format to Supersports, but powered by a 1.6 k-series engine.

Professional team support is not allowed in the B category, but there is factory assistance in the paddock and a great spirit of camaraderie among the drivers and their assistants; whilst both Supersport and Roadsport A have a myriad of team supported and private entries. This year’s Roadsport family calendar features many highlights including a mid-summer trip to the former F1 circuit of Zolder alongside the more powerful Superlight stablemates, and rounds at Rockingham and Brands Hatch where the full Caterham Motorsport circus is out to play.

10th/11th April – Silverstone National
3rd May – Castle Combe
5th/6th June – Zolder, Belgium
3rd/4th July – Rockingham
21st/22nd August – Brands Hatch Indy
4th September – Oulton Park International
23rd/24th October - Snetterton
