Formula Ford Festival

Drivers who have tasted Festival victory include Johnny Herbert, Eddie Irvine, Mark Webber, Jenson Button & Anthony Davidson. The list of top Formula One drivers who have fallen short is even longer.
The 2007 Formula Ford Festival was the 36th in the events history and took place at Brands Hatch over the weekend of 19th – 21st October.
TANDY TURNS THE TABLES
The BRSCC Formula Ford Festival finished with its usual high-drama, when an amended race result handed victory to Nick Tandy in a Ray GR07, a year after he was denied the title following a penalty imposed by the stewards.
The Duratec final was full of controversy, with the safety car deployed three times. It was during the third deployment that the Tandy collided with leader Callum MacLeod, when the latter braked suddenly.
Both drivers were able to continue racing but the race was red flagged on lap 14 after Lee Mumford crashed out at Paddock Hill bend and Rogier de Wit and Joshua Scott tangled at Druids. With more than half distance completed, the Clerk of the Course declared it a result and race-leader Callum MacLeod was duly awarded victory.
Nick Tandy appealed to the officials after the race, which resulted in Callum MacLeod being given a two second penalty in accordance with sporting behaviour regulations for the brake test behind the Safety Car. The penalty was enough to see MacLeod move behind Tandy in the final standings.
So one year on from taking the chequered flag only for an appeal to go against him, Tandy was finally the Festival champion.
In the Kent Final, Keith Dempsey was the beneficiary after his brother Peter and race leader William Boyd had a coming together at Druids five laps from home. The race was red flagged and Keith was declared the winner, with Robert Barrable and Patrick McKenna making it an all Irish podium.
