The British Formula Ford Championship enters the 2008 season in great health and with even greater prospects for its future success, thanks to the continued full backing of Ford and, of course, the spectacular success brought about by the introduction of the new 1600cc Duratec engine.
Formula Ford's key selling point has always been its accessibility to young drivers looking to take their all-important first steps in motor racing, using safe, reliable and above all economical chassis. Now, thanks to Duratec power, Formula Ford has powered into a new era.
The low cost of competing is one of the British Championship's chief attributes, and the organiser's aim in 2008 is to underline that benefit and to maintain competitiveness. For example, there is no costly set official testing programme in British Formula Ford: competitors plan their testing independently according to their availability, objectives and, most importantly, their budget.
The championship's 25-race format provides young drivers with the maximum track time. Combine this with the unrivalled learning opportunities which Formula Ford provides and the result is a superb springboard to success for new drivers.
Plans for the 2008 British Formula Ford season include a package of driver benefits already in place including extensive Sky Sport TV coverage and a high quality paddock race centre. The forthcoming season is set to be the best yet for British Formula Ford.
