The Kerax Hyperdrive ST-XR Challenge is the original Ford one make saloon car race championship. When the next generation model superseded the Fiesta XR2, the series passed into a clubman format and the Escort XR3i was added as another class. The class stucture was furher expanded in 2014 with the addition of Class C for the Fiesta 1800 Si.

For the 2018 season, the ST-XR Challenge not only sees a change in name and logo, but also the addition of two new classes to help encourage and boost grid numbers. These two new classes will accommodate the Mk6 Ford Fiesta ST150 (also known as the Ford Fiesta XR4 in Australia!) and a new class for Fiesta XR2s which don't run with a limited slip differential, plus a further addition of an Invitation class to help incentivise further entires within the spirit of the championship.

The ST-XR Challenge is run to a strict Group N specification and is policed firmly to ensure that competitors comply with the regulations. This has resulted in the XR Challenge being another of the successful one-make saloon car championships run under the BRSCC calendar.

The majority of competitors traditionally hail from the northwest of the country and this fact is reflected with a bias of choice of the more northern race circuits being used in the race calendar, but several new competitors are now travelling from further afield. 2018 will feature "away" rounds at Snetterton in Norfolk, plus a special visit to Croft where the championship will be allowed to showcase its penultimate rounds on the same timetable as the exciting new TCR UK Championship when it visits North Yorkshire in Septemvber.
The Kerax Hyperdrive ST-XR Challenge is considered to be one of the best and most cost effective ways for any budding or experienced driver to go out and enjoy hard but fair racing. The friendship within the paddock is very real and warm.

Race day action is administered by the British Racing & Sports Car Club.
