VSR Super Silhouettes

The cars compete in a nine event championship featuring twenty two races at premier circuits in the British Isles plus one meeting in France. A normal race day or weekend will feature two fifteen minute races and a fifteen minute practice session. Double header weekends feature an additional two races.

The class A cars are powered by normally aspirated 2 litre twin overhead camshaft engines with limited modifications to keep overall costs down. Popular engines come from Vauxhall and Ford, the latter being the newly introduced Duratech unit. Power is fed through to a ?live? Ford axle fitted with a limited slip differential.

The class B cars originate from the VSR6 class of 2006, again fully space framed race cars and are either the right hand drive Pontiac Coupe or left-hand drive Ford Mondeos. New for 2007 the introduction of a new Ford Duratech 2.3 litre engine to run alongside the ageing Ford 2.9 V6 power unit. Like their class A brothers the class B cars feature normally aspirated engines with carburettors, competition clutches and ?H? pattern gearboxes. At the back end of the coupes feature an independent suspension set up whilst the Ford Mondeo can be independent or the original live axle set up.

All cars in the Super Silhouette series run on Avon Racing control tyres with the meetings being serviced by Waltham Services Limited.

Cars can be purchased new in various stages of build or turn-key and ready to go. Used examples of both classes are readily available, further details are available through the Championship Co-ordinator.
